# Link to internal files and folders

On desktop apps, you can create links in your note to open internal files, folders and apps. Follow the steps below:

### On Mac

1. Open the **Finder** app
2. Right click on a file/folder/app and hold the **`Option`** key
3. Select **`Copy "file_name" as Pathname`**
4. Open a note editor in UpNote
5. Use the shortcut **`Cmd`** + **`K`** to add a link. 
6. Type the link title and paste the link in the **`Link`** field (or use the shortcut **`Cmd`** + **`V`**)

### On Windows

1. Open the **Explorer** app
2. Hold **`Shift`** and right click on a file/folder/app and select **`Copy as path`**
3. Open a note editor in UpNote
4. Use the shortcut **`Ctrl`** + **`K`** to add a link. 
5. Type the link title and paste the link in the **`Link`** field (or use the shortcut **`Ctrl`** + **`V`**)
