# Import from Simplenote

You can transfer your existing notes from **Simplenote** to **UpNote** by performing the following steps on **Mac** and **Windows** app:

1. Export your notes from Simplenote to a .**json** file following [this guide.](https://simplenote.com/help/#export)
2. Select the option to import from Evernote
   * On **Mac**:  Select `File` > `Import Notes` > `Simplenote` from the menu bar. 
   * On **Windows**: Go to `Settings` > `General` > `Import from Simplenote` 
3. You will see the pop up as below:\

4. Click the button **`Select .json files`** and select json files to import to UpNote.
5. Select the notebook you want to add your notes to (optional) 
6. Click the **`Import Notes`** button to import to UpNote
