# Import from Bear

You can transfer your existing notes from **Bear** to **UpNote** by performing the following steps on **Mac** and **Windows** app:

1. Export your notes from Bear to **Markdown** files following [this guide](https://bear.app/faq/Import%20&%20export/Export%20your%20notes/). 
2. Select the option to import from Markdown files
   * On **Mac**:  Select `File` > `Import Notes` > `Markdown` from the menu bar. 
   * On **Windows**: Go to `Settings` > `General` > `Import from Markdown` 
3. You will see the pop up as below:\

4. Click the button **`Select .md files/Select folder`** and select .md files/folder to import to UpNote.
5. Click the **`Import Notes`** button to import to UpNote
