# Link to internal files and folders

UpNote allows you to insert links that open files or folders stored locally on your desktop device. This helps you access supporting materials—such as documents, project folders, or reference files—directly from your notes.

### On Mac

1. Open the **Finder** app
2. Right click on a file/folder/app and hold the **Option** key
3. Select **Copy "file\_name" as Pathname** (or select a file/folder and use the shortcut **Cmd + Option + C** to copy the pathname)
4. Open a note editor in UpNote
5. Use the shortcut **Cmd** + **K** to add a link.
6. Type the link title and paste the link in the **Link** field (or use the shortcut **Cmd** + **V**)

### On Windows

1. Open the **Explorer** app
2. Hold **Shift** and right click on a file/folder/app and select **Copy as path**
3. Open a note editor in UpNote
4. Use the shortcut **Ctrl** + **K** to add a link.
5. Type the link title and paste the link in the **Link** field (or use the shortcut **Ctrl** + **V**)
