Lock the whole app
This is a Premium feature.
Locking the entire UpNote app keeps all your notes protected, ensuring that no one can access your content without entering the lock password or passcode. This is useful when sharing your device or when you want an additional layer of privacy beyond individual notebook locks.
🖥 On Desktop (Windows & macOS)
Lock UpNote Manually
You can lock the app anytime:
Press Cmd + L (Mac) or Ctrl + L (Windows/Linux), or
Click the lock icon in the upper-right corner of the app window.

Recommended: Sign In First
We recommend signing in to your UpNote account before using the lock function. If you forget your lock password, being signed in allows you to safely sign out and reset it using your account login.
Lock Password
By default, your UpNote login password is used as the lock password.
To change it to a shorter or numeric password, go to: Settings → General → Change lock password
If You Forget the Lock Password
If you cannot remember your lock password:
Click Sign out on the lock screen.
Sign back in using your account login password.
Your lock password will reset to your account password.
You may change it again in Settings.
Lock When App Is Closed
You can set UpNote to lock automatically whenever the app is closed:
Go to Settings → General → Lock when app is closed
This ensures the app always requires your lock password when reopened.
Auto Lock
To prevent unauthorized access when UpNote is left open:
Go to Settings → General → Auto lock
Choose a time interval for UpNote to lock automatically after inactivity.
📱 On Mobile (iOS & Android)
Require Passcode When the App Launches
To lock the entire app on mobile:
Go to Settings → Passcode Lock
Enable Require passcode when app launches
You will be asked to enter your passcode each time you open UpNote.
Enable Biometrics
For faster unlocking:
Go to Settings → Passcode Lock → Enable Touch ID / Face ID
Change Passcode
You can update your 6-digit passcode anytime:
Settings → Passcode Lock → Change passcode
If You Forget Your Passcode
If you forget your mobile passcode:
Sign out of UpNote.
Sign back in with your account login password.
When you open a locked notebook afterward, UpNote will prompt you to reset your passcode.
