# Delete notes

If you no longer need a note, you can easily delete it from UpNote. Deleted notes are moved to the **Trash**, where they can be restored or permanently removed later.

### Move a Note to Trash

* Open the note you want to delete.
* Click the **More Options (...)** menu or right-click on the note in the list.
* Select **Move to Trash**.
* The note will be removed from your notebooks and stored in the **Trash**.

### Restore Notes from Trash

If you accidentally delete a note, you can recover it:

* Open the **Trash** from the sidebar.
* Find the note you want to restore.
* Right-click (or use the **More Options (...)** menu) on the note.
* Select **Restore**.
* The note will return to "All Notes" section.

### Permanently Delete Notes from Trash

To permanently remove a note:

* Open the **Trash** from the sidebar.
* Right-click (or use the **More Options (...)** menu) on the note.
* Select **Delete Permanently**.
* ⚠️ Once deleted permanently, the note cannot be recovered.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.getupnote.com/organize-and-manage-notes/delete-notes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
