# Quotes

To insert or format text into a block quote, use the keyboard shortcut **`Cmd/Ctrl`**  + **`Shift`** + **`U`** or click the quote icon <img src="https://content.gitbook.com/content/3GrtcMjQg6SuaNLTO7ZF/blobs/CuB2AWsMD3sDHNh2mFQ7/image.png" alt="" data-size="line"> in the formatting bar.

You can also type **`/quote`** to insert the quote in the note editor.

You can change the background color of the block quote by clicking/tapping the <img src="https://content.gitbook.com/content/3GrtcMjQg6SuaNLTO7ZF/blobs/FvIfFAtUvBkFaeXMktQH/image.png" alt="" data-size="line"> icon in the top right corner of the block quote and seleting the background color option.
